Belief blog post

I wanted to take a break today from normal blogging to tell you all what has been happening in my world lately in regards to my spiritual growth. I have always gone to church with my Mom. She prefers that we all worship together and usually I don't mind but recently we started attending this new church because good friends of hers were asked to be the worship leader. At first I enjoyed going. I like the preaching and it was small so everyone was close. But then I began noticing things that I didn't appreciate, nothing overly wrong just people's personalities were starting to show. And also the boyfriend wasn't happy there (he is used to more of a black church and this church was mostly white). It is what I was raised in so I don't usually care but because we are so serious I want to be able to worship with him as well because chances are I will be spending my life with him. So for the past few weeks we have been trying new churches.

So far we have tried the Church of Jax and Celebration Church. I really liked them both. We tried Church of Jax first and I thought the preacher was very down to Earth and funny. But I did not like how when he would say everyone pray quietly, people would start speaking in tongues loudly. I never grew up with people speaking in tongues. I do believe that it is a spiritual gift but I also think that it is over used today by people who probably don't have that gift so I kind of shy away from churches that are all about it.

We then tried Celebration Church, yesterday actually, and I also really like it as well. We're going to try it again next week and then decide if we want to keep looking or not.

I guess now would be a good place to put what I/we are looking for in a church. I don't want to be too picky but I am hoping to find a church that I can someday raise my children in so I want it to be somewhere that I love. Well, here they are in no particular order.

1. Achurch that is 100% Bible believing and has the core values that I believe.
2. A church that I can get involved in. I don't just want to come every week sit and leave.
3. A church that is doing things in the community. I want to be able to volunteer and see that my church is helping those not just on the other side of the world but also down the street.
4. A church that does missions work and supports missions.
5. A church for all people. Where you feel comfortable no matter what race or nationality you are.

Of course, that isn't all of them but those are some of the main ones (and the ones that I can think of at the moment). I will keep you updated on our progress as we go and for those of you who live in Jacksonville. Do you have any recommendations for churches in Jax? If so, let me know. I would love to hear it.
Haha, I had to post this, most awkward picture ever! Boyfriend took this yesterday. Apparently I make this face a lot when I'm thinking or doing something (I know, hot right?!)

P.S. Has anyone seen that episode of Newlyweds when Jessica is explaining how whenever Nick is doing something he makes a face similar to this. I cracked up at that. Bonus points if you know what I'm talking about!
Ugh It's Monday
Lots of love,
