This time around I wanted to review something other than a movie, and since I had just finished the Hunger Games books I figured I could share my opinion on the series.
The Hunger Games
Well, there's no beating around the bush... the series was AMAZING!! I mean, the first book reeled you in almost immediately and the other two books just kept getting better and better, But let me start from the beginning. And I will try not to spoil the books for those of you who haven't read them yet (but seriously if you haven't please go read them now).
I first heard about the books because I read online that Liam Hemsworth (who is delicious) would be starring in the movie next year. I did a little research and then just decided to try the first book. I looked online at the library to reserve it and I was number 61 in line to get the book. At that point I was kind of over it. I figured whenever I get it I get it. Then, I saw a preview for the movie and then it was just everywhere and I had to read them. So my lovely boyfriend came by one day and surprise! He bought me the first book. Now, I'm still kind of but not really into it. Until I get about one page in and it gets good, and I mean GOOD. Like, I finished the first book in about 2 days good. And then the second one showed up at the library the same day I finished the first (it was fate). And then I bought the 3rd on my lunch break the day I finished the second (by now it was like a drug). And I seriously cannot tell you how good they were.
Now for a breakdown. The book is basically about a 16-year old girl named Katniss who lives with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. A long time before the she was born the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of their surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place (taken from the Barnes and Noble website).
Now, I have to say out of all of the characters I think I disliked the main character Katniss the most. She was constantly going back and forth about things and it just drove me crazy. I mean if I had someone that treated me like Peeta I wouldn't even have to think about it. Oh BTW I was so sad when I heard that Liam would play Gale not Peeta, don't get me wrong the casting was great and I think he is more of a Gale than a Peeta but I loved Peeta in the books and wanted to transfer that love to Liam. Oh well.

So if you don't take away anything else from this review know that these books were superb and if you are looking for a great new read get them you will not be disappointed. Oh, and bonus points if you read them before the movie comes out.
How many of you can't wait for the movie next year?!I'll see you there!!
