My style: Sailor made

Happy Halloween everyone!!

I just got back yesterday from Atlanta for the weekend. It was fun, just a quick getaway with the family. But I caught something on Friday so I've been battling that for the weekend/week. I did manage to take some pics of the gorgeous leaves (the reason we really went up north and yes we do take a whole weekend to go see the changing of the leaves it is the one thing I miss living in Florida) so I'll be sure to post those soon. I didn't really take any pictures of me on the trip, mostly because I looked gross and sick lol. This outfit I wore to work and looking back at the pictures I feel like I could have been on a sail boat. Aye Aye Captain!

The Write Review: The Hunger Games Trilogy

This time around I wanted to review something other than a movie, and since I had just finished the Hunger Games books I figured I could share my opinion on the series.

The Hunger Games
hunger games
Well, there's no beating around the bush... the series was AMAZING!! I mean, the first book reeled you in almost immediately and the other two books just kept getting better and better, But let me start from the beginning. And I will try not to spoil the books for those of you who haven't read them yet (but seriously if you haven't please go read them now).
I first heard about the books because I read online that Liam Hemsworth (who is delicious) would be starring in the movie next year. I did a little research and then just decided to try the first book. I looked online at the library to reserve it and I was number 61 in line to get the book. At that point I was kind of over it. I figured whenever I get it I get it. Then, I saw a preview for the movie and then it was just everywhere and I had to read them. So my lovely boyfriend came by one day and surprise! He bought me the first book. Now, I'm still kind of but not really into it. Until I get about one page in and it gets good, and I mean GOOD. Like, I finished the first book in about 2 days good. And then the second one showed up at the library the same day I finished the first (it was fate). And then I bought the 3rd on my lunch break the day I finished the second (by now it was like a drug). And I seriously cannot tell you how good they were.
Now for a breakdown. The book is basically about a 16-year old girl named Katniss who lives with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. A long time before the she was born the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of their surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place (taken from the Barnes and Noble website).

Now, I have to say out of all of the characters I think I disliked the main character Katniss the most. She was constantly going back and forth about things and it just drove me crazy. I mean if I had someone that treated me like Peeta I wouldn't even have to think about it. Oh BTW I was so sad when I heard that Liam would play Gale not Peeta, don't get me wrong the casting was great and I think he is more of a Gale than a Peeta but I loved Peeta in the books and wanted to transfer that love to Liam. Oh well.
So if you don't take away anything else from this review know that these books were superb and if you are looking for a great new read get them you will not be disappointed. Oh, and bonus points if you read them before the movie comes out.
How many of you can't wait for the movie next year?!I'll see you there!!

She's Got the Write Style: Blake Lively

This time around I wanted to showcase someone who, again, has great style. That person is Blake Lively. She is the perfect California girl and on top of that she can rock a couture dress like no one's business. Below I want to brake down some of the pieces that make up Blake's style.
First, I want to talk about her hair. Her blond locks can normally be seen in a sort of beachy curl. And even when she has it in an updo she will still sometimes leave out soft wisps to tone it down. Some examples are below.
Blake Beachy Waves

Second, she seems to love boots. Tall ones, short ones, heeled or flat. And with her incredibly long legs they look great on her. Here are some shots of her in boots.
Blake Boots
Lastly, she loves anything that will show off her amazing stems. Whether it's shorts or mini dresses. She wears an abundance of them. I personally don't blame her. If I had the pleasure of being over my 5' 3" I would show off my legs too. Here are pics of the many shorts and dresses she wears.

So what do you think? Are you a fan of Blake's style? Who are some of your fashion icons?

The Write Style: Football Game Outfit Ideas

Most of you know that I went to the Jag's Football Game last night with the boyfriend. Well, since the date was pretty last minute (I mean he asked me when I was getting off work if I could go) I didn't really have time to plan an outfit. So I went to a football store bought a Jag's shirt and headed to the game in that and some jeans. If I had enough time I would have definitely worn something closer to these two looks below.

Of course I had to represent the Jag's! To keep warm layer a cute jersey over a sweatshirt.

I also wanted to post the before pictures of the boyfriends apartment so that you can see what I have to work with. I will tell you right now the place is a mess but that is because he was in the process of doing laundry so don't judge lol.

I don't really have much to do with the kitchen. He likes it the way it is and doesn't want me to make it too girly until I move in.
The only thing he's hung on the wall yet is this calendar/cork board/letter holder.

Excuse my purse, but this is the view from the kitchen to the living room.
This is the living room. He plans to put a loveseat in front of the windows and then a couch along the wall opposite the makeshift TV stand.
This is the makeshift TV stand. He doesn't want to get anything new until we (I) get his TV.
 His messy bed.
He has somewhat decorated his bedroom walls. As you can see from his calendar and paddles from his fraternity.
The wall where the couch will go. I saw this commercial for Two Broke Girls where they were joking about how having a mattress on the floor doesn't signify being broke but being a crackhead and I died laughing because I thought of this mattress that is currently living on the floor in his living room lol.

Well that's what it looks like so far, as you can see it's not much but he doesn't need anything huge since it's just him. Hopefully, I will have after pictures up here before too long. And I will keep you updated on the progress.

Lots of love,

About Me

My name is Natasha and I was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. I have two great parents and four sisters (who can sometimes get annoying but I wouldn't trade them for anything). After attending C.A. Burke Elementary School my mom decided to home-school my sisters and I until my sophomore year in high school when she enrolled us into Blue Ridge Christian School. I made a lot of great friends there but I didn't want to get stuck in one town so for college I began looking at schools in Florida because we would come here for vacations and who doesn't want to go to school in a vacation spot?!

I am now a senior at the University of North Florida majoring in Journalism with a minor in biology and chemistry. I began my college career as a pre-veterinary medicine major at Jacksonville University. But after taking a writing class my sophomore year I realized that my love for writing was more than mere fascination. So, I transferred schools and changed my major and now here I am. I am more in love with writing now then I ever was before.

I graduated last July and have been taking writing jobs ever since. My hope is to get a job working for either a magazine or newspaper and one day work my way up to editor. I have a strong drive and I know that I can make my dreams into a reality. I created this blog as a place to share all that goes on in my life from finishing college to beginning my life as a member of the work force. I hope you enjoy!

My Style:Lazy hazy days

I wore this outfit last friday as part of a dress down day (of course I should mention that I was the only one dressed down :). I was happy and comfy so that's all that really matters. Not much else to say so here are the pics.

Also, the boyfriend moved into an apartment a couple of months ago. He wanted to be closer to work and me and so far he's loving it. The only thing is he really doesn't have any furniture yet. So I told him if he gets the big stuff I would help him decorate (yay) since I pretty much spend all my time there and if everything keeps going the way it's going I will prob be living there once we decide to take the plunge and gasp! get married. But first things first. So I took some before shots of his place which I will post soon and then I'll post after shots when I get everything the way I want it. Probably in a month or so.

Speaking of in a month! So for Christmas you know I've been wanting a new Ipad and the boyfriend said he would buy me one for Christmas (and in exchange I'm getting him a flat screen TV) but he has decided that Christmas will be coming early and I will be getting my Ipad in about a month. I can't wait!!

I am really dragging right now because I stayed up until 2:45 Sunday night watching Drop Dead Diva on Netflix (yes i know it was a bad decision but I thought I could make up for it Monday night and get to bed early) but then the boyfriend told me that he had invited his brother to the Jag's game but his brother ended up not being able to make it (his son had a football game and he didn't want to miss it, I thought that was a great reason...GO Dad's who care!) so I told him I would go. The game didn't start until 8:30 and by 10:30 we were just at the half. We finally left at 11  when the 3rd half started and I still didn't get home until 12 am. But the Jag's won!! I had fun but you know how I feel about football. I think I enjoyed the people watching more than anything lol. SO anyway, this morning I grabbed a can of Monster and I am forcing myself to stay busy so I don't pass out onto my keyboard :)

Happy Tuesday (date night if I make it till then lol)!!

Lots of love,

She's Got the Write Style:Olivia Palermo

Hey guys!

So I wanted to take a break from outfit posts to show you all one of my fashion inspirations. Olivia Palermo has such amazing style. I know that she was always the catty one on The City and yeah I disliked her as much as everyone else while watching it. But even then I was impressed with how put together she always was. In this post, I basically broke down a few of her outfits into their key elements. I believe that to achieve Olivia's style you can start out with these essentials: a great bag, a nice skirt, and cigarette pants (or the Audrey Hepburn pants).

First, a great bag can go a long way. It can make any regular outfit look fabulous and it can last for years if you take care of it. I have to say I am a huge purse lover. Like, how some women love shoes...I love purses. I guess because no matter what size you are a purse will fit. I love that. So needless, to say I am always looking for a greta bag to complement my wardrobe. Olivia, has tons of great bags! Just look below.

Next, skirts are a staple in a girl's closet. Like I said in my old post, which you can read here, I went to a private school and the dress code was that girl's had to wear skirts. I have skirts that date as far back as high school and I still get wear out of them. Olivia also knows how to rock a great skirt. She wears long and short, tight and flowy, and they all look great! Check them out.
Laastly, a nice pair of cigarette pants. While I am no where near Olivia's size I still love a good pair of skinnies. Olivia takes those a step further with the cigarette pant. They not only are skinnie but also stop a bit above the shoe, which I love. I have been on the hunt for a good, cheap pair of cigarette pants. So if you know of a place let me know!

So, how about you? Do you find Olivia's style inspiring? Who is your style inspiration. I'll try to get an outfit post up soon and maybe I'll make these style inspirations a regular thing, I certainly have enough style icons :)

IT'S FRIDAY!! Any plans for the weekend?

Lots of love,

My Style: One scarf...two outfits

This scarf has become my new baby. I found it in my mom's closet and have been finding new ways to wear it since. I used to hate animal print (still do to an extent) but I've been seeing a lot of cute leopard print stuff recently and it's kind of making me want to switch sides. Anyway, here are two looks that I've worn it with recently.

The first outfit was one I wore to work and the second I wore out and about on Saturday. Do you like?

So, I have been seriously contemplating getting an Ipad. My laptop is getting kind of up there in years and I was going to buy another one but it still works (kind of) so I don't want to trash it. I figured an Ipad is like a laptop but different. So that just may be my Christmas gift to me :) I'll def post pics of it if I get it! This is going to be a short post because I have to get to work.

Hey, it's Tuesday! Know what that means?! It's date night!!! And the boyfriend says he has something delicious in mind for dinner. I can't wait!!

Lots of love,
